LAEF Receives Prestigious Julie & Spencer Penrose Award for Outstanding Non-Profit   The Latin American Educational Foundation was selected as the winner of the prestigious Julie and Spencer Penrose Award for Outstanding Non-Profit for 2004.  On behalf of the Trustees of El Pomar Foundation and the 2004 Awards for Excellence Selection Commission, LAEF was thanked and honored for its "enterprising work and dedication in all that LAEF does for the citizens of Colorado." Founded in 1949 , LAEF has established itself as a leader in meeting the higher education needs of Hispanic students through scholarships and support programs. To date, the organization has awarded more than 4,500 scholarships to deserving scholars. LAEF is a 501c(3) non-profit corporation and generates its funding from corporations, foundations and individual contributors.
