THREE-TIME GRAMMY AWARD WINNERS HEADLINE ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE LATIN AMERICAN EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION’S GALA 2010

DENVER—Ozomatli, a three-time Grammy award winner, will headline the Latin American Educational Foundation’s 2010 Gala. Ozomatli, originally from Los Angeles, now belongs to both the city of L.A. and to the world equally, as they were recently invited by the U.S. State Department to serve as official Cultural Ambassadors. Their music has an original sound where salsa, R&B, samba and funk collide. Ozomatli has gone from being hometown heroes to playing for the President of the United States at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 32nd Annual Award Gala in Washington D.C.

Jardín de Oportunidades, Garden of Opportunity, is the theme of this year’s gala, as LAEF honors their scholarship recipients throughout Colorado. The Latin American Educational Foundation began planting seeds of opportunity in 1949, providing sixty-one years of lifting-up Colorado's Hispanic youth and supporting their dreams of higher education.

The hilarious MommyComic, Debi Gutierrez, will serve as the evening’s comedian. Debi successfully blends comedy with real life experiences as evidenced in her many awards including an Emmy, a National Peabody Award and The Parents’ Choice Award.

Patrons will also hear from LAEF Student of the Year, Adrian Chavez, freshman at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. A motivated young man, raised in the small town of Lamar, whose dreams of college became reality when he received a $2000 scholarship for the next 4 years from the Latin American Educational Foundation.

The black-tie event is set for Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel.

All proceeds raised from LAEF's Gala 2010 will support the organization's scholarships, support programs and endowment fund. LAEF is a 501c(3) non-profit corporation and generates its funding from corporations, foundations and individual contributors.

For sponsorship or more information on the LAEF Gala 2010, call 303-446-0541. You may also visit the organization's Web site, www.laef.org.

Founded in 1949, LAEF has established itself as a leader in meeting the higher education needs of Hispanic students through scholarships and support programs. To date, the organization has awarded more than 5,400 scholarships to deserving scholars.
